La Redorte is a village consisting of services and commerce which include supermarket, bakers, butcher, restaurants, café, paper shop, hairdressers, beauty salon, petrol station, garage, plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers. Also a chemist, a medical center, dentist, osteopath, bank, post office and a retirement home.

The main economy has always been in wine production.

The wine cooperative named "l'Avenir" was built in 1931, has 300 members and produces 80000 hectolitres of wine per year. The wine of "pays et l'AOC Minervois" is our trade mark for many years tourism as also taken its place as a vibrant activity giving people the chance to discover and explore the beauty of this region thousands of visitors come to La Redorte to discover our village and the beauty of the canal du Midi. Between April and October our water born visitors contribute a vital element to our daily life.
The proposed project to restore our Port will create a new activity to the village with boats being catered to allow people to purchase local produce.
Near to the "Montagne noire" and bordering the Corbieres local walks offer visitors a way to experience the changing scenery of our region, Thirty kilometres from Carcassonne and Narbonne, and twenty minutes from the giant cave of "Cabrespine" situated close to the abbey of Caunes -Minervois famous for its marble, were right in the center of Cathar country ! With a school of four classes (infant school) one hundred children are taught here.

Fifteen associations are grouped in our village : Hunting association, fishing association, ex combatants (war service) club, blood donors association, festival association, tennis club, retired members club, "Amicale Laïque"( judo, yoga, , gym, karate, …) , petanque/boules association, the cinema club, rugby club, the Occitan association.

Every year at regular times our village comes alive, every Thursday the recent music and arts festival has been an enourmous success during the season from july-august: "les jeudis d'été de La Redorte".

The last week-end of july is our local festival with food (giant paella) and dancing to live music over a three day period, with boules and tennis competitions featuring.

The festival of "Saint Jean" is celebrated around the 24 th june with an enourmous fire, music, dancing and a superb firework display by the banks of the Canal du Midi

Since 2006 " the summer nights " vibrate with the rythm of the festival of Thursday in summer at La Redorte various evenings include dance, theatre, circus, cinema and music. Thanks to the hard work of our local associations, volunteers and assistance from the county council, La Redorte belowes a vibrant sight, lively and welcoming for all. In the autumn months La Redorte opens its cinema every week end with major national and international films. With reasonable prices films are shown at the "sale Jean JAURES" next to the sports and fitness centre.
